A recent report from travel management company “musafir.com” highlights that Dubai has emerged as a key driver for the growth of the business travel sector in the region. The emirate is recognized as an ideal destination for international meetings, thanks to its modern infrastructure, global conference centers, luxury hotels, and convenient regional and international air connectivity. This reinforces the UAE’s position as a primary hub for business tourism. The study indicates that the momentum in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector has contributed to increased hotel bookings and overall travel activity in the area, catering to both business and leisure purposes. As a result, the Middle East has become one of the preferred locations globally for corporate events.
The findings further reveal a 20% rise in spending on business trips to the Middle East and North Africa by 2025, with expectations of sustained strong growth into 2026. This increase is attributed to the growing demand within the MICE sector, which is considered a fundamental pillar of the tourism, hospitality, and service industries in the region. The UAE, in particular, continues to solidify its status as a regional and global center for major business events.
The study also reflects a significant shift in the nature of corporate travel within the region, noting that trips are no longer limited to routine movements with a singular purpose. Instead, they are becoming more multifaceted and impactful, with an emphasis on high-value travel experiences such as conferences and innovation workshops.
