Dubai Chambers Strengthen Economic Cooperation with Queensland, Australia

The Dubai Chambers explored opportunities for enhancing economic cooperation between Dubai and Australia during a meeting with an Australian delegation led by Honorable Roslyn Bates, the Minister of Finance, Trade, Employment, and Training of Queensland, Australia.

The gathering, held at the Dubai Chambers headquarters, included Yahya Lootah, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, along with Ridwan Jadot, the Australian Ambassador to the UAE, and Briony Hallis, the Australian Consul General in Dubai, among other officials.

Yahya Lootah stated, “We are committed to fostering communication with international partners and exploring new avenues of collaboration that benefit the business community and stimulate international trade. Queensland is a significant economic partner, and we look forward to building on our bilateral relations and broadening our exploration of new investment and trade opportunities.”

The discussions focused on the development of trade and investment flows between Dubai and Queensland, emphasizing sectors of mutual interest. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the potential that Dubai offers to Australian companies seeking to expand into markets in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, leveraging the emirate’s competitive advantages, including advanced infrastructure and pro-business economic regulations.

In 2024, the non-oil trade value between Dubai and Australia exceeded 13.1 billion dirhams, reflecting an 8% annual growth. During the first half of this year, 250 new Australian companies joined the Dubai Chamber, bringing the total number of active Australian member companies to 1,594 by the end of the first half of 2025.

The Dubai International Chamber, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, opened a representative office in Australia in 2023 to attract Australian investments to Dubai and support Dubai-based companies in their expansion efforts within the Australian market.
