The Dubai Duty Free has announced record-breaking sales, surpassing 8 billion dirhams as of December 9, marking the first time in its history that this milestone has been achieved. This figure was reached after an Indian traveler bound for New Delhi made a purchase worth 371 dirhams. This accomplishment underscores a year of exceptional sales, with nine out of eleven months recording new highs, while November stood out with its highest monthly sales ever, totaling 876.56 million dirhams (approximately 240.16 million USD).
Significant Achievement
Ramesh Cidambi, the CEO of Dubai Duty Free, expressed his excitement during a visit to Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport alongside several managerial staff and employees, stating: “We are thrilled to have achieved this remarkable milestone, surpassing the 8 billion dirham sales mark for the first time. I extend my gratitude to all team members who work tirelessly around the clock, both in our stores and in our back offices, for their outstanding efforts that elevated our performance as we approach the end of 2023. We have recorded a 17.6% increase in sales during the first nine days of December compared to the same period last year.”
He added that the recent sales figures have been extraordinary, with an overall increase of 9.8% this year, equating to over 710 million dirhams more than last year’s total, which is comparable to an entire month’s worth of sales. Cidambi also conveyed a message of congratulations from Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Duty Free, to all team members for their impressive performance in November, wishing them continued success as the year concludes.
The Dubai Duty Free is preparing to celebrate its 42nd anniversary on December 20, during which it will announce a promotional event featuring discounts of up to 25% on a wide range of products.
