Dubai has solidified its standing as a global tourist destination, distinguished by its unique features, diverse tourism offerings, and a wide range of hospitality options. According to Bloomberg, Dubai leads in the number of hotel rooms, providing extensive choices for visitors from various demographics, which gives it a competitive edge.
As reported by the agency, data obtained from property analysts at CoStar reveals that Dubai currently boasts more hotel rooms than several renowned global cities.
Additionally, Dubai has flourished for several years as a transit point. With the enhancement of its infrastructure and the variety of hospitality and accommodation options, visitors are opting to stay longer in the emirate rather than merely passing through the airport for a brief stopover. Notably, the number of hotel rooms in Dubai has doubled over the past decade.
Bloomberg highlighted that, apart from Chinese cities benefiting from a massive influx of domestic tourists in the world’s second-most populous country, Dubai now ranks second globally after London in terms of hotel room counts.
The agency pointed out that new hotel openings in Dubai continue, including the upcoming Sil Tower, which is set to become the tallest hotel in the world, standing at 82 stories with 1,004 rooms in Dubai Marina. This is one of 56 hotels currently being developed in the city since the start of the year.
According to researchers at Lodging Economics, these projects will add over 15,000 rooms to the total hotel room inventory in the emirate. Furthermore, the restaurant sector is following a similar trajectory; in 2024 alone, the emirate has issued 1,200 new restaurant licenses.
