The company “Transmission Networks”, a subsidiary of “Abu Dhabi National Energy Company” (TAQA), has been honored with the “Best Infrastructure Project of 2025” award at the “Platts Global Energy Awards” held in New York, USA.
This recognition is attributed to the “Phase Shifting Transformers in the East-West Corridor” project developed by TAQA’s Transmission Networks, which stands out as one of the most advanced high-voltage (400 kV) energy transfer initiatives in the region. The project facilitates precise control over the amount of electricity transmitted through one of the key power corridors in the country.
The system enhances the operational flexibility of the network, alleviates stress on it, reduces electrical waste, and overall contributes to the stability of the grid, particularly in light of the increasing integration of renewable and nuclear energy sources into the UAE’s energy mix. By providing advanced management of energy flows, the project plays a crucial role in supporting the UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050 and achieving its objectives of net-zero emissions.
