During the year 2025, Khaled Ali Al Bustani, the Director-General of the Federal Tax Authority, announced that the agency achieved several significant accomplishments and continued to enhance its policies aimed at fostering creativity and innovation to meet the expectations of all stakeholders.
Speaking at the opening of the third strategic partners forum for the Federal Tax Authority in 2025, held in Dubai, Al Bustani stated:
The authority has signed over 55 memoranda of understanding with various government and private entities to strengthen cooperation in several areas, including:
information and data exchange, electronic connectivity, enhancing auditing processes, supporting tax system awareness initiatives, and sharing expertise to improve collaborative operations.
Al Bustani noted, “This year saw a significant rise in corporate tax compliance rates, with a large number of taxpayers registering with the authority during the stipulated periods for each category.
Hundreds of thousands of tax returns and annual statements from corporate tax registrants were processed, with the number of registered corporate taxpayers exceeding 680,000, and those registered for value-added tax surpassing 520,000.”
He emphasized that in line with the visionary leadership’s goal of developing a modern housing system for citizens, the agency continued its efforts to enhance the VAT refund service for citizens constructing new homes, having processed over 44,000 tax refund transactions for citizens who reclaimed the VAT paid for their newly built residences.
Additionally, the agency has solidified its position in organizational excellence and increased competitiveness through continuous efforts to develop its human resources via various training programs.
