Jumeirah, a global leader in luxury hospitality and part of Dubai Holding, has announced the launch of a Sustainability Village in Madinat Jumeirah, designed to encourage guests and visitors to adopt more sustainable lifestyles through interactive and enjoyable experiences.
The Sustainability Village serves as a dedicated platform showcasing Jumeirah’s initiatives for environmental protection, biodiversity preservation, and promoting responsible food production. This destination supports the brand’s mission to create unique and meaningful guest experiences through a carefully crafted journey that features immersive storytelling and integrated exhibits.
Visitors will embark on a multi-stage experience, starting with a trip to the beehive at Madinat Jumeirah, where they learn about the crucial role of pollinators in maintaining biodiversity. The journey continues in the aquaponic farm, highlighting agricultural models that emphasize resource efficiency and demonstrate how sustainable food systems can be integrated within hospitality environments.
The village also showcases Jumeirah’s ongoing efforts to protect marine life through dedicated exhibitions about the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project, which has helped rescue and rehabilitate over 2,320 turtles since 2004 before releasing them back into the Arabian Gulf. Additionally, Jumeirah supports a coral reef rehabilitation program, nurturing over 1,400 corals in the Jumeirah Al Naseem nursery, with more than 300 of these corals successfully transplanted back into the ocean after growing. Furthermore, Jumeirah is involved in the ‘Dubai Reef Restoration’ initiative, one of the world’s largest coral protection programs, having cultivated over 3,000 corals in specialized marine nurseries.
Guests will also explore Jumeirah’s extensive waste reduction activities, the promotion of circular economy principles, and the implementation of responsible sourcing and carbon-neutral practices. The experience concludes with a plastic recycling workshop, where guests learn about converting plastic waste into practical products at the Jumeirah Recycling Center, supported by UAE-based climate tech startup Midori.
Thomas Meyer, CEO of Jumeirah, commented on the village’s opening: “Jumeirah continues to affirm its commitment to sustainability through practical initiatives that embody our vision of environmental protection. The Sustainability Village exemplifies this direction, built on a human-centered and planet-focused strategy alongside globally recognized governance standards. Designed to be an educational and interactive destination, the village aims to introduce green initiatives and foster community engagement, encouraging guests and team members to adopt more sustainable lifestyles.”
In September 2025, Jumeirah partnered with the environmental charity Ocean Generation to raise awareness about the importance of marine conservation in schools across the UAE. The Ocean Academy program, accredited by UNESCO, was implemented in five schools in Dubai to make ocean sciences accessible to students of all ages, with a particular focus on youth.
The Sustainability Village reinforces the brand’s commitment to environmental preservation in its areas of operation through integrated and comprehensive experiences, aimed at being a scalable long-term initiative that aligns with Jumeirah’s sustainability strategy. The village contributes to community programs, the development of educational partnerships, and enhances collaboration among stakeholders in environmental protection efforts.
