The Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, part of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, has announced a memorandum of understanding with Deliveroo aimed at enhancing growth opportunities for its members, particularly those involved in the food and beverage sector.
This alliance aims to broaden the reach of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the market and accelerate their digital transformation. It offers an efficient and cost-effective way for these businesses to expand their customer base, strengthen their competitive edge, and improve operational efficiency. Additionally, this partnership paves the way for new growth prospects for local businesses, aligning with Dubai’s ambitious D33 Economic Agenda, which aims to double the emirate’s economy by 2033.
The comprehensive memorandum establishes an innovative model for collaboration between the public and private sectors, providing members of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment with significant business advantages such as tailored membership fees and access to preferred commission models. It also includes extensive promotional support for each participating project to aid customer acquisition and marketing efforts.
Ahmed Al-Muhairi, the Acting Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment, stated, “Small and medium enterprises are fundamental to the success of Dubai’s economy, playing a pivotal role in the food and beverage sector, which enhances levels of creativity and excellence while shaping the city’s culinary landscape.
We aim to leverage Deliveroo’s technological expertise alongside our understanding of local business requirements to facilitate market entry and support digital transformation, which will be essential for future economic sustainability.”
This partnership reflects our commitment to providing a comprehensive ecosystem that enables Emirati entrepreneurs to grow and succeed. It also highlights the effectiveness of strategic public-private collaborations in delivering tangible results for SMEs, contributing to our broader objectives of economic diversification in line with the ambitious D33 Economic Agenda.
Nick Price, General Manager of Deliveroo in the Middle East, remarked, “At Deliveroo, we are dedicated to empowering local businesses and ensuring that Emirati-owned SMEs have the tools and opportunities they need to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital economy.
Through this partnership, we are not only removing barriers to market entry but also providing continuous support for entrepreneurs in the food and beverage sector to broaden their reach, enhance their competitive capabilities, and ensure sustainable growth.”
As part of its mission to integrate Emirati entrepreneurs and talent into the business ecosystem, the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment aims to support the establishment of 8,000 new Emirati projects by 2033, thereby increasing the total number of supported projects from 19,000 in 2024 to 27,000.
