Sharjah International Airport Authority has announced the addition of Caspian Airlines to its operational network through scheduled flights connecting Sharjah with five major cities in Iran. This initiative aims to enhance travel and tourism between the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Iran, thereby expanding the airport’s international destination portfolio.
Starting today, Caspian Airlines will commence its operations using Boeing 737-500 aircraft, which have a capacity of 120 passengers. The flight schedule includes seven weekly services from Tehran, three from Lamerd, two from Qeshm, along with one flight each from Shiraz and Bandar Abbas.
Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport, welcomed Caspian Airlines’ integration into the airport’s network. He noted that this development would bolster tourism and cultural exchange, enhancing the travel experience between the UAE and Iran, and solidifying Sharjah’s status on the regional and international travel map.
He further emphasized that the new routes linking Sharjah with key Iranian cities contribute to positioning Sharjah Airport as a regional hub in the aviation sector by offering reliable and efficient services that cater to the diverse needs of travelers. The Sharjah International Airport Authority is actively working with airline partners to broaden travel options and provide higher levels of comfort and accessibility for all passengers.
Additionally, Adil Noor Ali, CEO of Caspian Airlines, stated that the launch of these flights marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey to expand its operational network, providing travelers with a wider array of connectivity options and enhancing air travel between the two regions.
In the third quarter of 2025, Sharjah Airport witnessed notable operational growth, with passenger numbers rising to 5,127,120, a 16.7% increase compared to 4.39 million passengers in the same period of 2024.
Furthermore, aircraft movements increased to 30,737 flights, reflecting a 10.7% rise from 27,758 flights in the third quarter of the previous year, strengthening Sharjah Airport’s position as a prominent travel hub both locally and internationally.
