Stavanger University in Norway Receives Health Award in the Energy Sector

The University of Stavanger in Norway has been awarded the Human Energy Health Prize, valued at one million dollars, marking a pioneering recognition within the energy sector. This award acknowledges the university’s innovative efforts to enhance the mental and physical wellbeing of workers in the global energy industry.

During an official ceremony at ADIPEC, His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of ADNOC, presented the award to the University of Stavanger. Additionally, Indian company Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and UAE’s NMDC were honored for their contributions to improving health and quality of life in the workplace.

The award was introduced by Response Plus Holding and Burjeel Holding. Imran Al Khouri, Chairman of Response Plus Holding, remarked, “The diverse impact demonstrated through the initiatives of the winners of the Human Energy Health Prize is an exceptional achievement.”

Dr. Anwar Salam, Medical Advisor for Burjeel Group, stated that approximately 40% of shift workers in both onshore and offshore energy sites experience mental health issues while fulfilling their roles, a figure significantly higher than the global average of 4% to 9%. He also noted that the prize attracted 100 global submissions.
