His Excellency Suhail Mohamed Faris Al Mazrouei, the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, emphasized that the UAE government has placed significant emphasis on the land transportation sector, especially railways, as part of its 50 Projects initiative. In this regard, the “National Railway Programme” was launched in 2021, with investments totaling 50 billion dirhams, making it the largest system of its kind in the country.
In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) coinciding with the opening of the “Global Rail 2025” exhibition and conference in Abu Dhabi tomorrow, he noted that this investment reflects a comprehensive vision aiming to generate economic and developmental benefits exceeding 200 billion dirhams and aims to reduce carbon emissions, alongside promoting road safety by the UAE Centennial 2071.
He pointed out that railways play a pivotal role in achieving the objectives of the strategic initiative for carbon neutrality by 2050, as they provide a more sustainable and efficient alternative to land transport that enhances the quality of life and increases community satisfaction. He added that the UAE continues to invest in the future of smart transportation by establishing advanced infrastructure for autonomous vehicles and implementing a comprehensive legislative and regulatory framework to solidify the country’s position as a leader in crafting future-oriented solutions.
His Excellency stated that the Global Railway and Transport Infrastructure Conference 2025 serves as a premier international platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and future foresight, mirroring the directives of the nation’s wise leadership. This initiative underscores the constant significance of promoting sustainable development and embracing innovative solutions that strike a balance between economic growth and environmental protection, thereby reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in initiating high-quality projects and its pioneering role in future transportation and infrastructure.
