Tadra Hosts Workshop for Advancing Digital Payment System

The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) organized a specialized workshop aimed at enhancing and advancing the digital payment ecosystem within the UAE government. This initiative aims to improve collaboration among federal government entities as part of ongoing efforts to elevate digital services and optimize user experiences.

The workshop focused on streamlining government payment processes, enhancing user experiences, and establishing a unified digital payment system characterized by efficiency, flexibility, and security. Participants included leadership from government entities and representatives from various partners, all contributing to initiatives designed to develop the government’s digital payment system and foster collaboration among federal agencies, thereby facilitating the provision of proactive and integrated government services. This positions the UAE as a leading global model for digital governance.

The TDRA presented an overview of the digital government payment system, detailing its strategic objectives and its role in empowering government entities to provide a seamless and standardized payment experience based on digital identity, while supporting various digital payment channels and service centers.

Payment and Settlement

Engineer Majed Sultan Al-Masmar, Director General of the TDRA, emphasized that the government’s digital payment system is a fundamental pillar in the journey towards digital governance due to its capability to integrate entities, expedite payment and settlement procedures, and support the adoption of innovative digital solutions in government services.

Priority

Engineer Mohammed Bin Talai, Head of Government Services for the UAE, affirmed that accelerating and facilitating the digital transformation within government operations is a top priority for the UAE government and a major driver in developing the future government model. He highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships with governmental bodies and private sector leaders to enhance the systems supporting governmental operations, including the digital payment ecosystem. He added that standardizing payment procedures and adopting advanced technological solutions would reduce time and effort while increasing the efficiency of government services, aligning with the UAE government’s commitment to proactive digital services centered around user needs.

Engineer Mohammed Al-Zarouni, Deputy Director General of the Digital Government Sector at the TDRA, noted that organizing the workshop reflects the authority’s commitment to support government agencies in improving their services and promoting best practices in designing government services. This aligns with the UAE government’s initiatives to eliminate bureaucracy and achieve excellence in service delivery.
