Wego has revealed trends in travel habits among residents in the UAE during Ramadan 2026, highlighting a growing interest in local stays, cultural experiences, and short getaways with a spiritual focus during this holy month.
Residents are leaning towards planning shorter trips, which reflects a shift towards domestic travel along with a limited interest in short international trips to nearby culturally significant destinations.
Local stays continue to play a crucial role in travel planning during Ramadan, largely due to their accessibility and the flexibility of stay durations, in addition to the various cultural events taking place in the UAE throughout the month.
According to Wego’s data, searches for local accommodations have more than doubled compared to Ramadan 2025.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the top destinations for local stays during Ramadan, with a noticeable preference for upscale hotels; four-star hotels account for approximately 31% of the total searches.
At the same time, the average hotel prices during Ramadan 2026 have risen by 17%, reflecting the increased demand for short-term stays.
During Ramadan, residents prefer hotels located near mosques, cultural sites, Ramadan tents, and pedestrian-friendly areas, enabling them to plan iftar meals alongside social and cultural activities during their short stays.
