Representing His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, took part in the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, held in the city of Khankendi, Azerbaijan.
The UAE’s involvement as a guest of honor at the summit was prompted by an invitation from Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, to the head of state, reflecting the strong ties between the two friendly nations and their mutual commitment to furthering cooperation for the benefit and prosperity of their peoples.
Among the attendees were Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan; Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi; Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan; Sadyr Japarov, President of Kyrgyzstan; and Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan.
Additionally, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan; Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan; Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan; and Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of Afghanistan, were also present, along with representatives from various countries.
On the sidelines of the summit, His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber met with the President of Azerbaijan to discuss bilateral relations, joint projects, and opportunities for enhancing cooperation, particularly in the fields of renewable energy and infrastructure.
He also held discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, focusing on ways to strengthen collaboration between the two nations in vital sectors of mutual interest.
It is important to note that the Economic Cooperation Organization is a regional governmental body comprising Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Its mission is to promote economic and developmental collaboration among member states, support regional integration, and enhance development in areas such as economy, trade, energy, transport, agriculture, and the environment.
