The company ADNOC Distribution has launched the sixth largest ultra-fast electric vehicle charging station globally.
Alongside this announcement, the company revealed its future plans to establish a network of rapid charging stations across the United Arab Emirates by the end of 2027.
This launch coincided with the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, where global leaders gather to discuss the future of sustainable energy and infrastructure.
This achievement highlights ADNOC’s commitment to creating sustainable energy solutions, using innovation and intelligence to maximize positive impacts for today and the future.
The large charging station complex is located in the Saih Shuaib area on the Emirates Road (E11) between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It features 60 ultra-fast charging points capable of charging most electric vehicles from 0 to 80% in approximately 20 minutes.
This facility is the largest in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, and the sixth largest ultra-fast electric vehicle charging station in the world, marking a strategic step in ADNOC Distribution’s ambitious plan to establish a world-class infrastructure for electric vehicle charging along major highways in the UAE.
As part of this vision, ADNOC Distribution plans to open 20 rapid electric vehicle charging stations by the end of 2027, with 15 of them expected to be operational by the end of 2026 on key national roads. This development will facilitate long-distance travel for electric vehicles and support the country’s goals for smart and sustainable mobility.
On this occasion, Engineer Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, stated, “The inauguration of ADNOC Distribution’s ultra-fast electric vehicle charging station is a significant milestone in implementing the national electric vehicle policy and advancing our vision for sustainable mobility across the country. This station is strategically located on the Emirates Road (E11), one of the vital arteries connecting the Emirates, providing comprehensive services for road users and travelers between cities.”
He further added that through coordinated efforts to expand the high-speed charging network, they aim to reduce energy consumption in the transportation sector and support the transformative project “Global Market for Electric Vehicles,” which targets increasing the proportion of electric vehicles to 50% of the total in the UAE by 2050. This initiative also accelerates the shift towards a green transportation system, reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in smart and environmentally friendly transport.
Engineer Badr Saeed Al Lamki, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, emphasized that since its establishment in 1973, the company has been at the core of the mobility sector in the UAE. Today, we reaffirm our leadership with this qualitative leap into the future by launching the largest ultra-fast electric vehicle charging station in the nation, strategically positioned on one of the UAE’s vital roadways. This facility will be the first destination under the “ADNOC Hub” concept, specifically designed to meet the needs of intercity travelers. As the demand for electric vehicles rises, we are redefining comfort and reliability standards to ensure a seamless and safe travel experience across the country, supported by the leading E2GO network.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has set an ambitious goal to increase the percentage of electric vehicles to 50% of the total on the nation’s roads by 2050, aligning with national sustainability trends.
In this context, ADNOC Distribution continues to accelerate the achievement of this vision through the E2GO network, which is one of the largest electric vehicle charging point operators in the country, currently hosting over 400 charging points, with plans to expand to 750 points by 2028.
The launch of the electric vehicle charging complex marks a significant milestone, coinciding with the opening of the first destination under the “ADNOC Hub” concept, designed specifically to cater to the needs of intercity travelers.
With an area three times larger than traditional stations, the ADNOC Hub combines fuel distribution, electric vehicle charging, car care services, and lifestyle options, providing a comprehensive destination that combines convenience and an exceptional experience.
The new site on Emirates Road (E11) emphasizes its focus on serving travelers, being the first of its kind to feature a co-working space, offering users a comfortable and practical environment for work and connectivity while traveling between the UAE’s two largest cities.
This concept serves as a fundamental pillar in ADNOC Distribution’s strategy to redefine the retail sector on highways and deliver a futuristic journey that meets everyone’s needs.
ADNOC Distribution continues to invest in innovative mobility solutions to keep pace with rising demand by designing plans for expansion in highway centers and future projects to meet current needs and ensure future growth, aligning with the country’s objectives for adopting electric vehicles.
With a network of over 560 locations across the Emirates, ADNOC Distribution holds a leading position that enables it to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure efficiently and sustainably.
