The United Arab Emirates participated in the preparatory meetings for the 117th ministerial session of the Arab Economic and Social Council, scheduled for this coming Thursday. These meetings included discussions within the social and economic committee.
The UAE delegation was led by His Excellency Mohamed Saleh Shalwah, an advisor to the Minister of Economy.
During the discussions, several critical topics were addressed regarding the economic agenda that will be presented to the Arab League Council during its 35th ordinary session, set to take place in Saudi Arabia.
The proposal for establishing an Arab network for social and solidarity economy was among the topics, along with a draft for a population excellence award for the Arab region. The meetings also focused on enhancing Arab international cooperation in social and developmental sectors, in addition to reviewing reports and resolutions from relevant ministerial councils and specialized committees.
Furthermore, the discussions included a report on the implementation of the Arab Observatory for Women’s Economic Development, which aims to support women’s empowerment and increase their contributions to the economy. The impact of artificial intelligence on employment was also examined, along with a comprehensive Arab plan for adapting to climate changes, and the Arab Economic Report for 2026.
