Venture One, the project development arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council, has announced its debut in the European market through strategic partnerships with Finnish companies Unikie and Solita. This landmark achievement highlights the growing international recognition of UAE technology in the fields of secure autonomous systems and critical infrastructure.
The agreements were signed during a visit by a Finnish delegation to the United Arab Emirates, intending to explore how Venture One’s solutions can be integrated into public safety, security, and infrastructure projects in Finland and Northern Europe. This move aligns with the global trend toward the development of intelligent systems and the safeguarding of vital facilities.
Software Engineering
As part of these partnerships, Unikie, a global leader in software engineering and innovation, along with Solita, a European frontrunner in artificial intelligence and data transformation, will incorporate several of Venture One’s advanced aviation technologies into their portfolios. Key among these is the Saluki system, a highly secure solution for flight control and task-specific computing, as well as a mesh networking system that facilitates secure communications and advanced task management. The companies will also investigate applications of the GNSS-Less system, an advanced navigation solution that operates independently of Global Positioning System signals.
Chris Walton, Senior Director at Venture One, emphasized the company’s mission to transform deep technology developed in the UAE into practical solutions with a global impact. He noted that Unikie and Solita’s expertise in integrating intelligent autonomous systems within critical infrastructure projects makes them ideal partners for introducing these solutions in Europe.
These technologies stem from research conducted by the Technology Innovation Institute, the applied research arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council, aimed at supporting safe and resilient operations for drones and autonomous vehicles, even in complex operational environments.
Saluki System
The Saluki system utilizes a zero-trust architecture and supports artificial intelligence operations while managing multiple fleets. The mesh networking system offers tamper-resistant communications and enhances human-machine collaboration.
Conversely, the GNSS-Less system provides a secure vision-based navigation alternative that mitigates risks associated with jamming or spoofing.
Secure and Advanced Solutions
Juha Ala-Laurila, CEO of Unikie, stated that the partnership with Venture One strengthens the company’s capacity to deliver secure and advanced solutions that support European security. Ossi Lindroos, CEO of Solita, commented that the combination of Venture One’s technologies with Solita’s expertise in secure software and artificial intelligence creates a robust foundation for building safer and more resilient infrastructures.
Ossi Lindroos further added, “Enhancing the security of critical infrastructure in Europe is a vital part of our mission. By integrating the advanced technological solutions provided by Venture One with our accumulated experience in secure software systems, data, artificial intelligence, and connectivity, we have the necessary components to contribute to creating safer and more resilient communities.”
These agreements are based on the collaboration between Business Finland and the Advanced Technology Research Council, aimed at accelerating research and development and enhancing shared innovation systems.
Venture One, the commercial arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council in Abu Dhabi, focuses on bridging the gap between research and market-ready practical applications by offering transformative solutions to partners and clients in both public and private sectors. Venture One combines leading-edge research with extensive technical expertise to foster innovations that improve people’s lives and make a tangible positive impact.
