Wood has been awarded a contract by TA’ZIZ to deliver project management consultancy (PMC) for the establishment of the UAE’s inaugural methanol production facility in Al Ruwais Industrial City, located in Abu Dhabi.

The plant, set to be completed by 2028, will rank among the largest methanol production facilities globally, with an output capacity of 1.8 million tons per year. It will utilize cutting-edge clean energy technologies, enhancing its energy efficiency significantly.

Gerry Traynor, the President of Eastern Hemisphere Projects at Wood, expressed: “Wood is committed to executing large-scale, complex projects for clients in the Middle East, which remains a crucial area for strategic growth. This collaboration with TA’ZIZ highlights our proficiency in downstream chemical production and our robust project management capabilities. We are honored to support TA’ZIZ on this pivotal initiative for the UAE.”

Approximately 40 of Wood’s project management consultants, along with experts from the company’s regional energy transition hub, will collaborate with TA’ZIZ’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor on this project.
