The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has reported an approximate 10% increase in the number of Italian companies registered in the past twelve months, bringing the total to over 530 Italian firms.
This announcement coincided with the conclusion of DMCC’s latest promotional tour as part of its leading initiative “Found for Trade”, which took place in the cities of Naples and Palermo. The tour aimed to enhance trade connections between Dubai and Southern Italy, seeking new avenues for fruitful collaboration. More than 260 Italian business leaders were introduced to Dubai’s esteemed position as a global hub for trade and innovation, highlighting DMCC’s pivotal role in facilitating businesses from around the world to establish operations and seamlessly integrate into global value chains, thereby supporting their growth and prosperity in international markets.
Amid the positive backdrop of flourishing trade relations between the UAE and Italy, where non-oil trade between the two countries surpassed 14 billion USD in 2024—a year-on-year increase of more than 20%—DMCC sees promising potential to fortify these connections in strategic sectors for both parties, particularly in agriculture, coffee, precious metals, and energy.
Ahamed Bin Sulayem, the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman of DMCC, stated: “Given the strong bilateral relations between our nations and with non-oil trade reaching 14 billion USD in 2024, DMCC has witnessed nearly a 10% growth in the number of Italian companies over the past year. Our recent promotional tours in Naples and Palermo underscore this robust momentum and highlight the significant opportunities available to enhance trade and investment regionally between Dubai and Southern Italy. The synergies between our regions are clear; both serve as strategic gateways to their respective continents and boast world-class ports and logistics services, alongside renowned goods and industries, from coffee and agricultural products to energy and precious metals. We are committed to further enhancing our competitive advantages and solidifying our position as a preferred destination in Dubai for Italian companies looking to establish and expand their businesses and access high-value global markets.”
