Etihad Airways Expands Its Network to Include Damascus

Etihad Airways has announced a new significant destination in the Middle East: the Syrian capital, Damascus, set to commence in June 2026.

The new route, as detailed in a press release today, reflects the rising demand from travelers in the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council for direct flights to Damascus.

This service will offer travelers from Syria direct access to Abu Dhabi, connecting them to Etihad’s extensive global network, with seamless transfers at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Starting in June 2026, flights to Damascus will operate four times a week using Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring eight business class seats and 150 economy class seats.

With this announcement, Damascus becomes the 28th destination added by the airline this year.

Antonoaldo Neves, the CEO of Etihad Airways, stated that this new route demonstrates the airline’s commitment to connecting people to places that matter to them. He expressed pride in expanding their network to Damascus, highlighting its significance as one of the world’s most historically and culturally important cities, and emphasized support for the Syrian people by providing direct flights to and from Abu Dhabi, along with convenient connections through their global network.
