The Price Monitoring Committee has announced a reduction in all types of fuel for January, achieving a significant drop not seen in 53 months. The committee approved a decrease in gasoline prices by approximately 16 to 17 fils, reflecting a drop of more than 6%. Additionally, the price of diesel fell by 30 fils, marking an almost 11% decrease per liter compared to December 2025 prices, bringing them to their lowest levels since July 2021. Fuel distribution companies reported the new prices yesterday, which come into effect today, and include a 5% value-added tax.
The price of Super 98 gasoline decreased by 17 fils, going from 2.70 AED in December to 2.53 AED in January, representing a decline of over 6.3%. The price for Special 95 gasoline also dropped by 16 fils, from 2.58 AED in December to 2.42 AED in January, resulting in a 6.2% decrease. Similarly, E-Plus 91 gasoline fell by 17 fils, from 2.51 AED in December to 2.34 AED in January, which is a decrease of 6.8%. Diesel prices decreased by 30 fils per liter, from 2.85 AED in December to 2.55 AED, reflecting an almost 11% reduction in January 2026.
The committee had previously approved cuts in gasoline and diesel prices in November, with gasoline prices dropping between 14 and 15 fils, translating to a 5.6% decrease compared to October 2025. Diesel prices fell by 4 fils per liter. Throughout 2025, fuel prices across all categories witnessed notable decreases compared to 2024. The stability observed in prices at low levels follows a similar trend over the past months.
