Edge and EM&E Anticipate Partnership Agreement to Establish a Joint Venture in the UAE

Emirati company Edge Group has joined forces with Spanish Group EM&E to explore the launch of a joint venture based in the UAE, with an anticipated business value of approximately $1.5 billion. The signing ceremony took place yesterday at EM&E’s headquarters, attended by His Excellency Saleh Ahmed Salim Al Zahrani, the UAE Ambassador to Spain.

The agreement was signed by Hamad Al Marar, the Managing Director and CEO of Edge Group, and Fernando Fernandez, the CEO of EM&E. As part of this collaboration, the Spanish group will supply advanced technologies for remotely operated weapon station systems to the UAE and other international markets, with plans to jointly develop new defense systems through the intended joint venture in the UAE.

The new company will contribute to the development of specialized skills within the UAE in areas such as sales, engineering, and program management, creating quality job opportunities in advanced defense technology, while also supporting the joint development of future systems and the adaptation of existing ones.

In this context, Hamad Al Marar stated, “Our partnership with EM&E enhances our presence in strategic markets and accelerates our development in advanced weapon systems.” He added, “The combination of European defense expertise and Edge’s extensive portfolio of air, land, and naval platforms provides our clients with a significant competitive advantage. This framework paves the way for deeper industrial cooperation with the Spanish defense sector and strengthens the UAE’s position as a hub for next-generation defense technology development.”

Fernando Fernandez, CEO of EM&E, remarked, “This strategic partnership with Edge Group is a crucial milestone in our international expansion, reflecting confidence in the advanced engineering expertise we have developed in Spain.” He further noted that integrating remotely operated weapon station technologies with Edge’s industrial ecosystem not only enhances their export capabilities but also positions them as key partners in developing innovative defense solutions.

This collaboration, along with the proposed joint venture, marks a pivotal step for EM&E in solidifying its international presence and expanding its technological solutions across major global markets. By uniting the advanced engineering expertise of EM&E with the comprehensive defense system of Edge in the framework of a joint initiative, both parties are fostering a partnership model focused on enhancing industrial capabilities, creating specialized quality jobs, and developing high-level technologies that meet the demands of advanced international markets.
