Trade Between the UAE and Hong Kong Reaches $14.8 Billion in 11 Months

The United Arab Emirates ranks as the 11th largest trading partner of Hong Kong. As of November 2024, the total trade value between the two has exceeded $14.8 billion, with the UAE being the 6th largest export market for Hong Kong, amounting to over $11.2 billion in exports, and the 17th largest importer, with imports surpassing $3.5 billion.

For years, Hong Kong and the UAE have maintained a robust bilateral trade relationship, encompassing a wide range of products and services. In addition to the trade advantages, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is actively gathering the latest market insights and building strategic partnerships to facilitate business growth and develop commercial opportunities for companies.

At a press conference in Dubai, Daniel Lam, the Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa at HKTDC, announced that four international trade fairs will be held this fall in Hong Kong. These fairs will provide ideal platforms for UAE traders and suppliers to expand their businesses and access new markets. The events include the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) from October 13 to 16, 2025, the Electron Asia Exhibition from October 13 to 16, 2025, the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) from October 27 to 30, 2025, and the Hong Kong International Outdoor and Optical Technology Fair from October 28 to 31, 2025.

Showcasing Innovations

The HKTDC, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), is pleased to announce the Hong Kong Technology Pavilions at two significant events in Dubai: GITEX Global 2025, scheduled for October 13 to 17, and Expand North Star 2025, taking place from October 12 to 15.

Featuring over 20 innovative tech companies from Hong Kong, the pavilions will highlight the city’s growing prominence in technology and innovation. They will provide a platform for connecting startups and entrepreneurial projects in Hong Kong with global investors and enhancing strategic partnerships in the Middle East.

The 27th edition of the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will occur from October 27 to 30, 2025, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, while the 10th edition of the Hong Kong International Outdoor and Optical Technology Fair will be hosted by AsiaWorld-Expo from October 28 to 31, 2025. Under the theme “Illuminating Designs for a Smarter Future,” both fairs are expected to gather over 3,000 exhibitors, forming a notable global marketplace in the lighting sector rich with promising business opportunities.
