The Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) has announced a new achievement with the successful drilling and testing of the second well, “Hadbah – 02,” located to the north of the Sajaa field in Sharjah. This milestone is part of the ongoing assessment and development activities in the Hadbah gas field.
Results from the completion and testing of the “Hadbah – 02” well revealed the presence of additional gas reserves, with the well drilled to a total depth of 13,200 feet. The new well will be connected to the production line in the coming months, while drilling operations in the Hadbah field will continue to evaluate the full extent of the reservoir.
This accomplishment marks significant progress in the field’s development, following the discovery of the first well, “Hadbah – 01,” in 2024, which confirmed the presence of gas and associated liquids within geological formations known as Thamama.
The “Hadbah – 01” well was quickly brought into production to help enhance energy supplies in the emirate. Additionally, the Hadbah field is the fifth onshore gas and condensate field in Sharjah and represents the second discovery in the past five years, highlighting the emirate’s ongoing success in exploration efforts.
Engineer Khamis Al-Mazrouei, Executive Director of SNOC, stated that the drilling and testing success of “Hadbah – 02” is a significant milestone for SNOC in strengthening Sharjah’s energy capabilities and ensuring long-term energy security.
This achievement reflects the corporation’s unwavering commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth by continuing to develop the natural gas potential in the emirate, contributing to a vision of providing reliable energy for Sharjah and building a more robust and resilient foundation for its future.
Masoud Al-Hamadi, Executive Director of Exploration and Production at SNOC, mentioned that the success of the “Hadbah – 02” well testing is the result of exemplary teamwork, encompassing phases from geophysical and engineering studies to planning and execution stages. This accomplishment demonstrates the corporation’s ability to efficiently transform new discoveries into effective production.
SNOC reaffirms its commitment to further enhancing energy independence in Sharjah through the exploration and development of its hydrocarbon resources, supported by its strategic infrastructure for gas storage and processing.
