The Economic Integration Committee held its sixth meeting for the year 2025, presided over by His Excellency Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy and Tourism, with the presence of general directors from the Economic Development Departments across the nation.
The committee reviewed the progress made in implementing the outcomes from its fifth meeting, alongside discussions on several vital economic and legislative matters. These included the classification and cataloging of economic activities across various business sectors and non-financial professions, updates on the implementation of regulations governing telemarketing, as well as monitoring trends in trademark registrations, which reflect advancements in intellectual property protection and support for the competitiveness of Emirati products.
His Excellency Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri emphasized that the UAE, under its wise leadership’s directives, continues to develop an integrated operational framework that enhances the flexibility of the national economy and improves its competitive edge both regionally and internationally. He noted that the Economic Integration Committee serves as a key platform for fostering collaboration between the federal government and local administrations, aiming to achieve the goals outlined in the “We Are the UAE 2031” vision.
He stated, “Through the work of this committee, we are dedicated to tracking economic performance indicators and the outcomes of previous decisions to ensure a cohesive effort between federal and local initiatives that promotes sustainable economic growth while adapting to global economic changes. This is set against a backdrop of anticipated GDP growth of 4.9% for the year 2025.”
In detail, the committee addressed the national campaign “UAE: Capital of Global Entrepreneurs,” launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, which is overseen by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in collaboration with the UAE Government Media Office.
The committee also discussed mechanisms to support all Economic Development Departments in the country in line with the campaign’s goals and objectives aimed at establishing the UAE as a global hub for entrepreneurship.
During the meeting, recommendations were made regarding the development of the food delivery sector from restaurants and its operational regulations within the country. The experience of Dubai was shared regarding the establishment of guidelines for electronic platforms that manage food delivery from restaurants, aimed at promoting fair trade, ensuring transparency, and enhancing balance within the digital marketplace.
Bin Touq directed the formation of a joint task force to work on developing a federal policy that defines the mechanisms and guideline regulations for food delivery platforms from restaurants across the nation, thereby fostering growth and prosperity in this vital sector.
The committee also reviewed a project aimed at cataloging and classifying economic activities for specified business sectors and non-financial professions, which supports the regulatory actions undertaken by the ministry and regulatory bodies in the country to ensure comprehensive compliance and oversight.
Additionally, discussions took place regarding updates on implementing legislation for regulating telemarketing, suggestions for enhancing complaint mechanisms and penalties, and measures to curtail these disruptive practices against consumers, thereby protecting their privacy and freedom of choice in line with global best practices.
