Embar launches excavation and foundation work for a cooling station in Al-Safhul

The Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s leading provider of district cooling services, has announced the awarding of a contract for excavation and foundation works for a new cooling station in the Al Safouh 2 area. This initiative is part of Empower’s expansion plans to meet the rising demand for district cooling services in Dubai.

Actual excavation work commenced this month, with construction set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The new facility will be the first of three future stations that Empower plans to establish in the area. It is expected to provide a cooling capacity of up to 23,400 tons, catering to several buildings, including the “Innovation Center,” a notable landmark in the Al Safouh vicinity. This development aligns with Empower’s strategy to enhance its infrastructure and expand its services in strategically important areas of Dubai.

This development is part of Empower’s broader expansion strategy to respond to the increasing demand for district cooling services in critical locations throughout Dubai, especially given the notable population diversity in the Al Safouh area, strategically located near Sheikh Zayed Road, surrounded by green spaces and integrated facilities that fulfill the needs of individuals and families, including schools, shopping centers, entertainment, and fitness options.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, the CEO of Empower, stated, “We are advancing the implementation of Empower’s expansion strategy, which aims to strengthen our presence in the local market and increase our share in vital areas of Dubai, particularly as demand for district cooling services continues to rise. These new stations are a response to the population and urban growth in the region, necessitating sustainable infrastructure to keep pace with this evolution.”

Bin Shafar further remarked, “We are intensifying our efforts to provide reliable and high-quality cooling services to our customers by expanding our network of new stations across the emirate. We anticipate that these projects will enhance the sustainability of infrastructure and deliver smart, environmentally-friendly cooling solutions in line with Dubai’s sustainability development goals.”

He indicated that Empower is committed to making calculated investments to expand its operations in Dubai, in line with its dedication to modernizing and upgrading its facilities and technical workforce, aimed at meeting the growing demand for its services, enhancing efficiency, and fulfilling the expectations of residents and developers for sustainable, energy-efficient, and cost-effective cooling solutions.
