Flydubai has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Emirates Aviation University to collaborate on the development of a flight dispatch training program aimed at nurturing Emirati talent. This initiative reflects the airline’s dedication to talent development, empowerment of the local workforce, and the establishment of specialized aviation capabilities within the company.
The agreement was signed by Nasser Bin Kharbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Flydubai, and Professor Ahmad Al Ali, Vice President of the Emirates Aviation University, in the presence of Hamad Obaidallah, Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Operations at Flydubai, and Mike Hills, Chief Operating Officer. This partnership marks the initial step toward launching the anticipated program in July 2026, focusing on local competencies.
As part of this collaboration, selected candidates will undergo an introductory training course in flight dispatch at the Emirates Aviation University. This program, accredited by the General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE (as part of the second section of civil aviation regulations), lasts ten weeks and is designed to prepare participants for obtaining a flight dispatch coordinator license. The training will provide essential technical and operational knowledge, including aviation law, meteorology, navigation, aircraft performance, weight and balance, human factors, and flight planning, with an emphasis on close cooperation with pilots to ensure safe and efficient operations.
This initiative represents a strategic investment in the future workforce of Flydubai and is a critical component of the company’s training ecosystem. Through a structured career development path for Emiratis with no prior aviation experience, this program aims to broaden access to high-skilled aviation jobs and strengthen the future talent pool within the aviation operations.
Nasser Bin Kharbash stated that the development of national competencies and investment in human resources are fundamental to Flydubai’s growth strategy. This program not only facilitates internal training and the planning of filling these positions but also contributes to national development goals by providing meaningful job opportunities and establishing a sustainable base of future aviation personnel, including positions in flight operations, engineering, and piloting.
Moreover, Professor Ahmad Al Ali, Vice President of the Emirates Aviation University, commented on the institution’s extensive experience in designing and implementing effective training programs serving the aviation sector. For over thirty years, they have contributed to preparing qualified personnel and enhancing capabilities within the aviation ecosystem. He expressed enthusiasm for being part of this initiative aimed at developing Emirati competencies by leveraging their academic expertise across various aviation disciplines to deliver a purposeful and comprehensive training program.
