Yesterday, the Ministry of Investment signed a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft to explore areas of collaboration in investment analysis and financial forecasting using artificial intelligence technologies.
The agreement was signed by Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al-Hawan, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Investment, and Amr Kamel, the General Manager of Microsoft UAE, during the GITEX Global 2025 exhibition.
As part of the memorandum, both parties will look into enhancing the workforce skills within the Ministry through the “National AI Skills” initiative, a comprehensive program from Microsoft intended to upskill 100,000 government employees across various governmental institutions.
The memorandum also focuses on the collaboration for identifying and implementing AI use cases across specific sectors, particularly in investment analysis, financial forecasting, and enhancing individual performance.
The two sides will work together to promote best practices in data governance and management through workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions regarding the effective use of Microsoft’s Azure Data Catalog and Azure Purview services. Local experts from the company will support these efforts to ensure high standards of implementation.
Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al-Hawan stated that the Ministry of Investment is committed to supporting the nation’s vision to achieve a leading global position in artificial intelligence by 2031. He added that integrating AI into the investment framework and enhancing national capacities represents a significant step in realizing this ambition and accelerating progress towards a knowledge-based and innovative economy.
Amr Kamel expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration between Microsoft UAE and the Ministry of Investment in leveraging AI capabilities and advanced data analytics to shape the investment landscape in the country.
He explained that the goal of this memorandum is to combine the company’s extensive expertise in AI with the Ministry’s strategic vision to equip its personnel with the skills and tools needed for data-driven decision-making, opening up new avenues for investment and propelling innovation within the national economy.
The partnership between the Ministry of Investment and Microsoft marks a significant advancement towards the UAE’s aspiration to become a global leader in AI-driven and data-based investment strategies.
