Ras Al Khaimah’s Economic Department Addresses 937 Consumer Complaints in 2025

The Department of Economic Development in Ras Al Khaimah has reported that it addressed 937 consumer complaints in 2025, achieving a resolution rate of 95%. This reflects the effectiveness of their consumer protection system and the prompt action taken by regulatory teams in response to reports and violations in local markets.

The department noted that some of these complaints were linked to trademark infringements, with 28 cases involving the circulation of counterfeit products bearing well-known brand names in the emirate’s markets. This prompted urgent and extensive inspection campaigns by regulatory teams.

As a result of these campaigns, a total of 666,255 counterfeit items were seized from 71 shops and commercial establishments, with an estimated market value exceeding 31 million dirhams. These efforts aimed to safeguard intellectual property rights within the emirate over the past year.

The department emphasized that these initiatives form part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance market safety, protect consumer rights, and reinforce principles of fair competition, while supporting traders who comply with laws and regulations governing economic activities.

It was also highlighted that the sale of counterfeit goods not only affects consumers in terms of quality and safety but also impacts the reputation of local markets and investor confidence, undermining sustainable economic development efforts in the emirate.

The department urged consumers to cooperate by reporting any violations or suspicious products in the markets, reaffirming its commitment to continuously develop monitoring tools and enhance commercial transparency. This aims to ensure a safe and encouraging investment environment that strengthens Ras Al Khaimah’s economic standing within the country.
