The UAE Ranks Among The Most Connected Countries Globally by Air

His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority, emphasized that the civil aviation sector serves as a fundamental pillar for boosting economic and tourism growth, enhancing trade links, and connecting nations and peoples, especially given the rapid developments occurring in the sector both regionally and globally.

This statement was made during his participation in the ministerial session held as part of the agenda for the “Wings of India 2026” conference in Hyderabad, India, which brought together several ministers and senior government officials from around the globe.

He noted that the UAE, guided by its visionary leadership, has established itself as one of the leading global hubs in the aviation sector, thanks to its world-class logistics infrastructure and a comprehensive system that supports aviation, transport, and travel while enhancing its role as a key connector between East and West.

Global Share

Minister Abdullah bin Touq highlighted that the UAE accounts for approximately 2.3% of the total global international passenger traffic and 32.2% of the international passenger traffic in the region. These statistics demonstrate the high level of air connectivity achieved by the UAE, placing it among the most connected countries worldwide in air transport.

He affirmed that this standing provides a strong foundation for future progress as the UAE continues to develop a smarter and more sustainable aviation sector. This development is supported by the use of modern technologies, accelerating digital transformation, fostering innovation, and adopting solutions that help reduce emissions and improve operational efficiency, aligning with global trends and achieving sustainable development goals.

Sustaining Growth

Moreover, he added that the UAE places significant importance on enhancing international cooperation and building strategic partnerships that prepare the aviation sector for the future, adapting to the rapid changes in travel and transportation patterns to ensure sustained growth and enhance sector competitiveness on a global scale.

He also praised the strong UAE-India relations, stating they are a model for successful strategic partnerships that serve the interests of both nations and enhance opportunities for comprehensive and sustainable growth, particularly in new economies, aviation, and tourism. He highlighted the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between the two countries to boost travel flows and economic activities while opening new avenues for joint collaboration.

The ministerial session served as a high-level platform for exchanging insights regarding the future of the global aviation sector and discussing ways to enhance international integration, building a resilient aviation sector prepared for the future and capable of balancing economic growth with sustainability.
