Ahmed Khalafi, the General Manager of HPE for the UAE and Africa, emphasized the company’s participation in the 45th edition of Gitex Technology Week in Dubai as a contribution to promoting digital transformation and artificial intelligence in the UAE.
Khalafi praised the UAE for establishing itself as a global technology hub, stating, “The UAE has become an ideal environment for adopting and developing technology thanks to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Vice President, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, along with His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Vice Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance. They have transformed Dubai into a global model for technological leadership.”
What sets the UAE apart is the government’s role as an enabler rather than a competitor, fostering an environment that encourages global companies to invest and expand. Additionally, the talented workforce present in Dubai and the UAE as a whole is a valuable asset that motivates global firms to train and hire local talent in advanced technological fields.
Khalafi also highlighted the significance of collaborating with educational institutions within the country to prepare a new generation of engineers and technology specialists. He remarked, “It is essential that we invest in technical education and academic programs that equip youth to utilize modern technologies such as artificial intelligence and supercomputing.”
At HPE, we are partnering with local universities and training institutions to develop digital skills in line with future job market demands. We have found Dubai and the UAE to be a global model for technological advancements due to their innovative legislative environment. Over the past few years, the UAE has proven to be the ideal incubator for ambitious global companies, and our participation in Gitex this year reaffirms our commitment to being part of this promising future where technology intersects with sustainability to prioritize human needs.
Khalafi noted that the company’s exhibit this year features one of the world’s fastest supercomputers.
He added, “What we are showcasing at the exhibition is a true example of supercomputing, demonstrating one of the most advanced designs globally. The Cray supercomputing systems utilize a direct liquid cooling technology without fans, achieving 100% efficiency. This technology powers the world’s most powerful computing systems, such as El Capitan, and has enabled HPE to introduce some of the leading supercomputers listed on the Green500, which ranks the most energy-efficient systems globally.”
