His Excellency Khalid Mohammed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, welcomed Dr. Olli Rehn, Governor of the Bank of Finland, along with his accompanying delegation at the central bank’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The meeting was attended by the governor’s assistants and senior officials from both sides.
This visit underscores the interest of both central banks in strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing partnership in key areas such as financial stability, legislative frameworks, fintech, and green finance.
The two parties discussed ways to enrich cooperation and exchange experiences related to regulatory practices, as well as opportunities for developing cross-border payment systems and accelerating digital transformation.
Balama stated that the visit exemplifies their shared commitment to establishing the foundations of international collaboration and knowledge exchange, which enhances financial stability and fosters innovation. He indicated that, as part of their ongoing institutional efforts, they aim to create robust legislative and regulatory frameworks, accelerate digital transformation, and develop cross-border payment systems that contribute to sustainable economic growth and resilience for both nations.
On his part, Dr. Olli Rehn remarked that the dialogue with the Central Bank of the UAE represents a significant opportunity to share knowledge and best practices in areas of mutual interest.
